Over 250 Pennies!

I now have 254 pressed pennies (and a pressed quarter)!  My friends The Wrights have brought me a bunch as they traveled around the eastern part of the country. I received one from my Grandma's friend, Mel, all the way from London! We went on vacation to Michigan again this summer and stayed with a friend in St. Louis, she gave me a pressed penny from their zoo.

Here are some updated pictures of my collection:

Oops, Haven't Updated in a While!

So, once school got under way we kind of forget about this blog.  Now that it's Summer again, time to think about pressed pennies!  Mom and I just counted and I know have 215 pennies... so awesome!

Sorry to those of you that sent me pennies since last September since I didn't recognize your contribution, but I do really appreciate it!!!  I'm trying to remember where all these awesome squashed pennies came from now!

My Grandma Darlene and Grandpa David went on a trip to the Grand Canyon in Arizona and brought me back nearly a full penny book!  That was a pretty exciting souvenir!

I went on my first scout campout to Beaver's Bend in Oklahoma back in April and we found a couple of penny machines there in the campgrounds, too!

My friends Nicholas and Natalie brought me back a penny from their Smokie Mountains vacation.  And my friend Tehran brought me a penny from Atlanta Zoo!

My former Cubscout Master, Mr. Ellis, brought me several from NASA, too!

Hopefully my mom will help me do a better job of recording the additions to my penny collection from now on!  If you happen to be going somewhere neat this summer, pick me up a penny!!!

6 Special Deliveries Today!

When we checked the mail today, I had a letter from another little boy that's also doing the same homeschool lessons I am.  His name is Caleb, and he went with his family to see the Columbus Fleet replicas in Corpus Christi, and they were so nice to send me a penny from there featuring The Nina, The Pinta and the Santa Maria.  We studied those in school recently so I knew all about them!

Then, my Uncle Daniel came over and brought me some pressed pennies that my Grandpa Steve got while in Cleveland, OH.  They were from a machine actually listed in Broadview Heights, OH.  I got two from the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame Museum, one from Cleveland Harbor, one from Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad and one from the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo.

Six new pennies today!

What a great penny day!  Thank you Caleb and Grandpa Steve!

Three New Pennies from Friends!

A couple of week ago, my friend Sarah and her family sent me a Billy the Kid Penny from New Mexico.  My dad told me all about who Billy the Kid was!

Then, today I received a package in the mail from my friends Elise and Mattias... they had recently been to San Francisco on vacation and brought me a penny from the zoo.  They also had celebrated Elise's birthday at Fossil Rim here in Texas and sent me a penny from there as well!

Hooray for nice friends and three new pennies to add to my collection!  Thank you!

Thank you, Kerry!

A family friend named Kerry sent me two pressed pennies in the mail.  One is 101 Dalmations and the other is Mickey and Minnie at the Boardwalk Resort at Disney World.  Very cool!  Thank you, Kerry!

Fort Worth Stockyards Pennies...

On Saturday, my family and I went out to the Fort Worth Stockyards to get some pressed pennies!  The first machine we went to was at the Longhorn General Store, located in the old train station.  There were supposed to be four, but one was marked as broken (the Don't Mess With Texas penny - but I already have that one anyway!).  The store said they usually carried Penny Collector Books, but were out and waiting on their next shipment.  We'll have to check back and get one another time!

My little brother & me!
We happened to be there during the time they do the daily cattle drive down the middle of the street!

Moo!

Then we went to the Coliseum.  It was closed, but the lady at the gift shop let us through the doors and right around the corner was the machine.  We got four from there!

After that, we drove over to the National Cowgirl Museum & Hall of Fame and got three more pennies, from their electric press.

In a little less than an hour, I got 10 pennies to add to my collection!
